Bernard Bullen is known for his work on The Mandalorian (2019), Betty en NY (2019) and The Last Ship (2014).
- Thank you Bernard Bullen for your time for the Star Wars Fans.
Oh absolutely, it’s my pleasure to be able to do this interview for all the Star Wars fans from your magazine. I am very excited and I’m receiving everything being very grateful
- Bernard, many fans now know you as Din Djarin Father ,Were you a Star Wars fan before you got cast ?
Well I can tell you I have been one of the biggest Star Wars fan since I was a child. I still have it with me the old figurines and toys from the old films, especially the return of the Jedi. For the first two I was very little. But then I collected everything and anything you can imagine, from spaceships to Ewoks, you name it, I have it still. And then I received very excited the new Films. Although my favorites are the last two. Since a kid who didn’t want to be Han Solo , or Luke Skywalker ...
- Could you share some funny, remarkable, weird stories regarding the filming of your scenes?
Yeah wow well there are a few, I think it’s just since I got to that since day one, I was feeling for some days. I was pinching myself at all times to really see that it was real, that wasn’t really dreaming. There’s a scene but you seem very clear on the last episode on our flashback, where we are running with our child and there’s a big explosion on the wall next to us. We were told that wall was going to really explode, till just just Before filming. They wanted it done in just one take, and they wanted our surprise and emotions real. When we were told that and the magnitude of the explosion, we obviously freaked out. But there’s a reason why they did it and it worked ha ha ..
Another funny one was that they were paparazzi is climbing up the walls of the big studios. There in Los Angeles, trying to capture images. It was surreal
- Please finish the following sentence: “Looking back at working on Star Wars: The Mandalorian …”
I still get emotional when I think about those days and when I see the scenes and me on it. It’s one of the biggest dreams come true for any actor. It’s just a blessing . And it’s there forever
- With a role in Star Wars comes a Big Fan Community, what are your first star wars fan experiences?
I have been having such great feedback and found contacted me and magazines for interviews and stuff. Even though my role is a non-speaking Robert but now since the last episode they featured as a lot and we are put as guest stars on the credits . After the first episode aired, I did a little signing for our store in Los Angeles, I didn’t think anyone with Tom really but they did and it was truly truly amazing
- Will we see you back in The Mandalorian in season two? (if you are allowed to talk about it)
I hope so, I really hope so. We do. The whole family ha ha. Well they have left things a bit open and obviously we are very featured in the whole series I can’t tell you anything at this moment. We haven’t been contacted but the matter but I guess if we do it will be a bit further on as they have just started filming the second season
- You not only played in Star Wars, you also in Betty en NY , The Last Ship and some more. What
was your favorite role so far?
Well I have to say that Betty in New York, totally opened him a new chapter in my career because it made me work for Telemundo and the huge Hispanic market worldwide. It was a beautiful role I play a Spaniard which it was the first time in a long time .. And also in a project that has been hugely successful all around the world and it’s still Liz and is giving me so many good things . I never thought I would work on a novella for Hispanic market in the US and I guess it was another dream come true. And then Star Wars. That’s the beauty of this job you can do totally totally different roles in project isn’t it amazing?
- On IMDb is see some coming projects:"Breathe Jans, Breathe" and "The Uncanny" ,whats that?
The first one is a short film I was very very keen on working on because it was a very good project and I was working with friends and him it’s a very good story it will come out late next year. The uncannyIs a thriller/horror film that I filmed in summer this year with an amazing team and actors in Los Angeles. It was directed by the bank
