- Let me thank you for doing this interview for the "Pro Wrestling Interview Series Tour 2021".
No no, Thank you. I'm always happy to share the story behind The Sexiest Wrestler in the whole wide world, H.C. Andersen <3.
- When and how did you get into Pro wrestling?
I have been a fan of pro wrestling for a long time but it took quite a while before I started training myself. I actually started wrestling only in my early 30s. I have never considered myself as a great show man and that was one of the biggest reasons I didn't start earlier. One of my friends who I've known since I was 1 year old, Finnish wrestler Valentine, had been in the business for several years before I started and he was able to lure me in and give it a try. It wasn't an easy start by any means but now seven years later it has been all worth it.
- Do you have any previous experience with martial arts from before you became a wrestler or other sports you did?
I actually have pretty extensive background in various martial arts. Before I started wrestling I had been practicing Krav Maga for more than 7 years, MMA for 2-3 years and about a year of BJJ and Scandinavian Defendo on top of that. Of course the pro wrestling game is a totally different beast so I had to unlearn a lot of things from my martial arts days but at the same time I have also been able to utilize my background and make myself more unique by spicing things up a bit in the ring with some of the techniques I've learned in the past.
- Can you still recall your first training sessions?
Before I even began the actual training me and Valentine did some conditioning in "pro wrestling style" so I'd know what to expect. Sleeps, leaps, different kind of jumps, rolls etc etc. One of my earliest memories of the actual training was "the day of bumping". It was literally 5-6 hours of bumps and we had been training only for a couple of weeks so our bumping technique was average at best. At the end of the day I was exhausted, I had a terrible head ache and my body hurt everywhere. It really sucked!
- How do you remember your first match, what was the feedback and what experience did you take from it?
My first match was on November 2014. I had only been training for about four months and was not originally even booked in the event but one guy had to cancel and I took his place only two days before the event. The match was against Lucha Libre specialist Angel Del Tormenta. I was so nerveous, my mouth was dry and I had a tunnel vision but the match itself went fine. Of course there were small mistakes here and there but all-in-all it was a pretty good first match. Oh yes, and I won the match too!
- Do you have a ‚dream opponent‘ you want to fight above all others?
That is a tough question as there are so many dream opponents but one who stands out in my mind is Dustin Rhodes as Goldust. The character was so controversial, Dustin is an outstanding wrestler and has a great sense of comedy. The Bizarre One Vs. H.C. Andersen The Sexiest Wrestler in the whole wide world... that would be a match to behold. AEW, Call me!
- Do you have/ had any Wrestling idols Or Childhood heroes?
As a child I didn't have too many chances to watch wrestling so I didn't have actual wrestling heroes as a kid. When I was around 18 years old and WWE hit my neck of woods the wrestler who really stood out for me was Triple H. He looked like a super hero, his character was a total asshole at the time and his hard hitting style of wrestling was something I really liked. I hated the guy but at the same time he just was that damn good.
- What are you doing when you not stand inside the ring?
Obviously I'm making billions of dollars as a wrestler but I'm also working as a manager in a IT company. On top of that I hit the gym about 5 times a week and I'm a huge fan of video games (I actually did video game reviews as a job for several years).
- When a booker or company from your Country or around the world will book you , where can they contact you?
My Instagram account (@hc.andersen) is probably the best way to contact me.
- Thank you very much for your time- I wish you much success at your next event´s .Thank you for your time! Stay well! Stay safe! And do you have some words for your fans at the end?
Thanks for having me. For all of you fans out there - stay safe and stay sexy. Remember that HC loves you xoxoxo ;)
