-Thank you for your spontaneous commitment. Can you introduce yourself please.

Thank you for asking me! I'm Future Shock Tom Fulton – Scottish born, Romanian based, axe handling, atomic dropping, time travelling pro wrestling warrior. Coming from the year 2133, a time where wrestling has been outlawed, I have travelled back in time to change the series of events which has caused wrestling to be banned in the future. Armed with all the secrets of how Pro Wrestling will evolve, I aim to unleash my 'arsenal of futuristic moves', the likes of which no-one has ever seen, in order to save Pro Wrestling for future generations.

-How did you get into the Wrestling business ?

It was actually never my intention to become involved at all! I was completely obsessed with wrestling as a child but kind of lost interest as I grew older. Years after giving up on wrestling, I randomly found myself at a local wrestling show in Glasgow – I was completely naive to the UK wrestling scene and didn't even know there was any wrestling in Scotland!! I was blown away by the show – I had no idea that there were guys just like I had seen on TV, competing locally. The ring announcer mentioned that most of the wrestlers on the show all came from the Source Wrestling school and that anyone interested could come along to the school the next day. I went along, just hoping to learn more about how the business actually works but I got completely hooked! My life pretty much changed that day! I never missed a training session and was lucky enough to be chosen to do a huge variety of jobs which kind of served as my wrestling apprenticeship. I helped to promote shows by giving out posters/flyers, I sold tickets and merchandise at shows, I drove the international talent around, I drove the ring van, I worked as ring crew, ringside security, referee, ring announcer, provided commentary for DVDs, operated the music desk... During this rime I was surrounded by influential figures from the wrestling scene and really did receive an education in all aspects of the business! After a few short months of this combined with 4 or 5 gruelling training sessions per week, I was shocked to be told I would debut at the next show!

-What is your family thinking of your passion for the sport, are they worried about your health?

Unfortunately, I have had some pretty nasty injuries... I played Ice Hockey and Roller Hockey for many years before I started wrestling and it has taken a toll on me physically. Bad knees + bad shoulders + old age + Pro wrestling, is not a great formula... I was extremely unlucky to receive a pretty terrible injury last year. At one point I couldn't walk and was told by doctors I'd never wrestle or really do anything physical ever again... However 16 months of hard work (including temporarily relocating to Germany for treatment) to slowly rehabilitate the injuries has helped – and I'm almost able to perform the way I used to. This time away from wrestling meant I had to close down my wrestling school and promotion in Romania. So now my main focus is re-establishing my wrestling school (Source Wrestling School : Romania) and promotion (Romanian Wrestling Alliance) and getting myself back into ring shape.

- When I look at some of your Facebook photos you looks sometimes a little bit as Marty Janetty and sometimes as The Blue Meanie. Intent?

Hahaha – Marty Jannetty is actually one of my favourite wrestlers and was in one of the first matches I ever saw! I guess you mean the zebra/tassel gear... My appearance is supposed to be somewhat futuristic/science fiction crossed with 1980's nostalgia – but the outfit you are referring to is very 80's! Blue Meanie – not so much – although I have been told I dance just like him!

- What can you say about your Coach and how long did it take, that it was clear for you to do the first match?

I have trained with many coaches to gain as many perspectives as possible – but my main trainer has been 'Big' Damo O'Connor. I could talk for hours about everything he's done to help me – without a doubt – if it wasn't for Damo, I wouldn't be the wrestler, or even the person I am today. As far as my wrestling, he has helped me to 'modernise' the way I want to wrestle. I like to wrestle a very 80's style, but given how wrestling has evolved, some things just don't work like they used to. Damo really helps me to modify the 'how 'and 'when' of my wrestling to give me a better chance against contemporary wrestlers. He's also one of the top wrestlers in Europe and I'm glad he's finally getting the attention he deserves.

My other main coaches have included Mikey Whiplash. He's one of the most experienced and respected wrestlers in Europe. Just like Damo, he's a real 'why' man. He challenges me to consider my strategy of why I attempt each move at a given time. I've also spent a long time training under “Lord of the Manor” Paul Tracey. He is by far one of my favourite wrestlers to watch and is one of the best motivators I've ever worked with.

I debuted surprisingly quickly! After only 4 months of training. To me, it wasn't clear that it would ever happen. I was just enjoying my training and since I'm not the biggest or most intimidating figure – I concentrating on roles I had been given outside of the ring. I was quite apprehensive when I was told I would be debuting but Damo put my mind at ease and assured me that while I'm not the biggest or strongest, I have many other strengths and I belonged on the show. Looking back, I've wrestled in 5 different countries and for around 20 different wrestling promotions, so maybe he was right ;)

- Can you still remember your very first Pro Wrestling match and what was it like to wrestle in front of an live crowd for the first time?

Haha – like it was yesterday! I was wrestling one of the most respected veterans in Scotland and multi time champion “Lowland Superstar” Glen Dunbar. He is someone who I learned so much from just by watching and was sure we could have a good match. We were due to be the second last match on the card. However, travel issues prevented the two guys in the main event from making it to the show. So shortly before the match started, I was told we would be the main event! This was a huge amount of pressure but we put on a great match and I even ended up winning. When I got back through the curtain after the match I was told I had impressed the correct people and just earned the opportunity to wrestle on next weeks show! It's still probably my favourite match I've ever had.

- Your Nickname is "Future Shock", is there a story behind?

I'm from the year 2133 :P Plus I also enjoy Starrcade '89 ;)

- Pro Wrestling has many legends, do you have any idols?

Without doubt, my idol growing up was Hulk Hogan! As a kid I used to stretch the neck of all my t-shirts trying to rip them off like Hogan! I realise it's a bit taboo right now... Terry Bollea may have said some terrible things – but Hulk Hogan has directly or indirectly influenced everyone involved in Pro wrestling.

- Who was your favourite opponent so far and why? Is there anybody you want to fight necessarily?

I've been blessed that I've been in the ring with so many guys I look up to, but so far, my favourite opponent is Glen Dunbar. We think very similarly, which forces me to push myself to the limit to be the best I can be! As for anyone else... I learn something new every time I get in the ring. So I want to face everyone so I can become the best wrestler I can possibly be!

- And where did you see yourself in 5 years from now?

That's difficult... Given my recent recovery from injury – I hope to still be healthy and competing! My main focus right now is building a wrestling scene in Romania. I moved to Romania several years ago and assumed I would continue to wrestle there. When I got there, I was shocked to discover there was no Pro Wrestling in Romania at all! So I've been working to create a wrestling scene there. I operate the Romanian Wrestling Alliance and Source Wrestling School : Romania. Pro Wrestling in Scotland has grown so much over the last few years! I have seen crowds grow from around 100 hundred fans to the situation where Scottish wrestling companies are selling out major venues and selling thousands of tickets. I hope to achieve something similar and that in 5 years time I will be part of a thriving Romanian wrestling scene!

- What goals do you still have, would a major contract be interesting for you or do you feel well in the Indy area?

Right now, I'm focused on making a success of the RWA (Romanian Wrestling Alliance) and Source Wrestling School : Romania. Although I am still competing elsewhere – I'd like to continue wrestling across Europe.

- Every wrestler tries to gain international experience, to travel to many countries. Which country you would love to visit next and wrestle? And do you had the time to make some sightseeing in other Countrys?

I've been very lucky that I've had the opportunity to wrestle in a few different countries around Europe. In addition to wrestling for many promotions in the UK, I've competed for Italian Championship Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Holland, several promotions in Germany and also in Romania. I've had great experiences in these places and would love return to them. In particular, Maximum Wrestling in Kiel, Germany. The crowd in Kiel are so much fun and make me feel at home every time I'm there! I have a few things in place to wrestle in some new places in Europe for me, but I will be announcing these nearer the time. Normally the schedule is pretty tight – so I rarely get time for sightseeing.
