Whit Whitman Interview -

Sonequa Martin-Green came over and said hello, just to make sure I was not a psycho killer.  LOL

- Thank you With for your spontaneous commitment for the Fans

- How did you get your role  in The Walking Dead as the Savior known as Pick Axe Savior?

AMC did a casting call for Walking Dead under an assumed name, I remember that they wanted people to be unique looking or be taller than 183cm.  I figured a 193cm 136kg bald man might do the trick so I applied.  Every one of the saviors thought we were there for a war movie.  LOL.  It turned out to be the Walking Dead and most of us were shocked.  Trivia Here, I was average-sized, we had several people 218cm tall.

- Did you watch the show or read the graphic novel, prior to our casting to The Walking Dead?

I watch a few episodes but did not watch it religiously as I do now.

- Working with Andrew Lincoln  or Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be a dream for every
TWD Fan, what can you say about working with some of these guys?

Very professional.  And they treated the saviors very well.   When Jeffrey Dean Morgan came out of his trailer... his performance was flawless, and he was memorizing.   He commanded authority and I don't thank there was not one actor that's was not blown away watching him perform.

- How much has the series The Walking Dead and your part as Savior influenced your life? Can you
go outside unrecognized
?

I have been a bad guy in many shows, people recognize me but can't place me.  They always ask, "Do I know you?"  And I ask first if they watch the walking dead.   Lately I have grown a full beard, so I don't get that so much.

- What was the best thing or the funniest moment about working on The
Walking Dead?Is there something special you can share with us?

I was the Savior who chased the crew out of the woods, and needless to say, I'm a big guy-- I am a few inches taller than Abram Ford.  We were not allowed to talk with the actors unless they talked to us first.  After 4 hours of me standing 6 hours behind them with a large pick-ax, Sonequa Martin-Green came over and said hello, just to make sure I was not a psycho killer.  LOL.  She let me hold her rifle, which was a real gun (not loaded), and weigh about half as much as she did.  She also showed us their water bottles that they hide behind the trees to make them look, sweaty -- she even sprayed my face with it.   Secret - at any given time these spray bottles are feet away from the actors, hid behind trees!

- Before you work for The Walking Dead you were a part of „Brothers Barbarian “, "Powers", "#Murder" and many more. What was your favorite role so far?

The walking dead of course.  I can't believe I stood meters away from glen when he died.  Currently, I am taking time away from being in front of the camera to directing films.

- Fast & Furious 8 you worked as a stand-in for "The Rock" Dwayne Johnson, that's right?

Yes, I did, We shot about 90sec of usable film a day.   Fantastic set, just lots of waiting!

- You also well-known in the gaming industry, what have you gone for the WWE?

Yes, my first big tabletop RPG I publish was the WWF Role-playing game way back in 1991!  Damn, I'm old! :-)

- Is there anything else you would like to let The Walking Dead Fans and your fans know?

I am proud to be part of something Epic!  I am pretty sure that the Walking Dead will go down in history as a top 100 show ever produced, and I was part of that history!  Thank all of you for allowing me to be part of it.  Without the fans, it would just be another show.

- Thank you Whit Whitman for being my guest and I hope to see you soon in Germany.

I hope so!
