-Thank you for your spontaneous commitment. Can you introduce yourself please?
My Name is Tyra Russamee, I’m an American-Thai wrestler who lived overseas most of my life. I’m wrestling and training with SPW Company in Singapore.

-How did you get into the Wrestling business?

Around late 90s to early 2000s, I’ve been a huge fan for pro-wrestling, I will always meet up with my cousin or my male friends to watch the TNA, WWF, WCW matches on TV. I found out about SPW in 2013, I was a fan and firm supporter for local independent wrestling besides watching TNA, WWE, NJPW and Lucha Underground. Which later I became ticket gal, I got acquainted the members and wrestlers, then later I decided to try out for training just to experience what’s it’s like to be a wrestler. I began to enjoy it and thankfully, prowrestling helped me to focus on being fit and also helped me cope with the down phases or depression in life, hence I’ve grown addicted to wrestling since then.

-What is your family thinking of your passion for the sport, are they worried about your health?

My mother did not approve of me wrestling but she was there for my debut. She did not like how mean and vicious I am in the ring while I torture and beat down the opponent, she saw the side of me which was a shocker to her I suppose. Considering in middle school, high school and university I did other contact sports like soccer/football, basketball, I figured she’d be used to seeing me “in the zone”. I understand her concern as a parent because she worries about my health and safety. I assured her that that everyone who does wrestling knows what they are doing, accidents and injuries, should they happen, they all come with the territory just like in any other sports. I hope in time, my mother will eventually understand and accept my choice to become a wrestler.

- What can you say about your Coach and how long did it take, that it was clear for you to do the first match?

My trainer, Andruew Tang also known as “Statement”, he’s Singapore’s first pro-wrestler, he is a great example of athletes who work very hard, train hard in order to reach their goals whether it’s to beat the opponent in the ring to being one of the most chiseled physiques in SPW. Together with the other SPW pro-wrestlers and the co-founder Vadim they all trained me the basics and allow me to learn the ropes of pro-wrestling and how amazing it is to be a wrestler. Nothing comes easy, and through their intense training and their guidance which I am very grateful for, its brought me to where I am now. As for my first official match it was clear by Andruew and the other co-founder Vadim, both of them are the ones that can decide on whether a trainee is ready to be in the ring or not, and I trusted both of them with their decision that I was ready for a debut together with TJ in “Wrestle Against Odd” on 5 Dec 2015.  I’m very thankful for all the advices and the time from all the SPW members as well as the opportunities til date.

- Can you still remember your very first Pro Wrestling match and what was it like to wrestle in front of a live crowd for the first time? My very first pro-wrestling match and experience in front of a live crowd of 300 viewers it would be the SPW’s Prove 5 event on 23 Oct 2015 for the “blast from the past” multi-man Halloween match. Each of the participants are in Halloween costumes, I went all out with my corpse bride costume by enduring the 3 hours of special effects makes up (which was a great learning experience and loads of fun) and destroyed, by painting, tearing and smeared fake blood, on to an actual 7kg wedding gown just for this match. Overall, this very first match is memorable and fun experience in the ring for me, especially scaring the people backstage by just standing in the middle of the hallways in the dark. The moment I removed the veil and showed the grotesque face, the audience eyes were wide open in shock or amazed, it does not bother me because as long as there’s crowd reaction then I know its worth it.

- You work for the SPW Singapore Pro Wrestling, what can you tell us about this Company?

I represent SPW as one of its female wrestlers. The best description I will say about the company would that its very much like a guild or training ground during the Roman empire times where gladiators go through the intense training and conditioning for a fight in the coliseum. Well, the teaching and the training is quite intense and it’s not for the soft hearted or weak minded people who can’t handle pressure or constructive feedback. SPW is known to be one of the best training school around this region, that produces some of the best in-ring competitors in our maturing South East Asian pro-wrestling scene.

- Pro Wrestling has many legends, do you have any idols?
I have handful of idols based on the eras.

From the attitude era, for the male category, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Baptista, Seiya Sanada, the Great Muta, Goldberg, Mick Foley, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and the Rock. As for females from the attitude era Trish Stratus, Lita, Molly Holly, Gail Kim, Kana, Victoria and Chyna.

Currently for the male cateorgy, Neville, Fin Balor, AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Kazuchika Okada, Tetsuya Bushi, Jay White, Ricochet, Will Ospreay, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, Wade Barrett. For current females category, Asuka (formerly known as Kana), Jessica Havok, Awesome Kong, Sasha Bank, Becky Lynch, Naomi and Alicia Fox.

- And where did you see yourself in 5 years from now?

In 5 years from now, I see myself traveling the world taking on matches with indies wrestlers in foreign countries and maybe fulfill a dream to sign contract for a Pro-Wrestling company in Japan or USA. More importantly I hope to still have good health and age gracefully.

- What goals do you still have, would a major contract be interesting for you or do you feel well in the Indy area?

Goal for now is to gain experience and be book for matches overseas and with Indy wrestlers to make my name be known as one of the best female wrestlers in South East Asia, of course it would be interesting to signing a major contract as a wonderful perk to fulfill the dream.

- Every wrestler tries to gain international experience, to travel to many countries. Which country you would love to visit next and wrestle? And do you had the time to make some sightseeing in other Countries?

The countries I would love to visit and wrestle will be in USA and Japan. So far I’ve wrestled in Singapore and in Malaysia. I did not do much sightseeing during my visit in Malaysia, for the most part, I indulged in the local eateries.

-When a booker or company will book you where can they contact you?

They can contact me by facebook https://www.facebook.com/Tyra.Ru5samee , Instagram or my trainer Andruew tang via www.facebook.com/TheStatementAndruew

-Is there anything else you would like to let my readers and your fans know?

Do continue to support local pro-wrestlers, without you fans, we pro-wrestlers will not be doing what we do via sacrifice and endure the pains just to entertain. The passion, appreciation and love for pro-wrestling will not be so amazing or worthwhile if it was not for the recognition and support from the fans locally and international. So I thank you all for the support and love.
